like the rabbit that ran late
i am terribly sorry for being incredibly late for this.
The Samaskolliquium was a symposium regarding the feed on how we masscom students may expect from our onset after the collegiate life. They shown us excerpts from their experiences based from their own personal stories about how they acquired their current positions in their own respective jobs. They showed us how we should have ourselves set for the unpredictable instances of possibilities like having to exchange our supposed paremeters with newer ones if things do not go according how they are expected. The speakers had their own say on how one may take these circumstances and gave us the option to select of which may provide us better lattitudes.
I personally didn't agree fully on how the program turned out, with the utter discouragement of the undergrads of their possible chosen paths; which they presently desire which layed under the field they are currently taking, yet it was redemption for letting the undergrads know what other great opportunities could possibly await us.

Samaskolloquim
Most people think that when a student took up Mass Communication, a student wants to be in the television or in radio or in newspaper, which is for me is totally wrong.
I took up Mass Communication because I think this course fits my personality. I am an adventurous type of a person and I want to be a researcher in the field that I desire. That simple dream of mine I think is not too much to ask in the company I want to be into.
Some of the guests we've invited during our Samaskolloquim, under achiever during their college years is not an hindrance for their success. I truely admire those people because they never look back and regret the years they been to but they recall it as challenge for them to reach what they are right now.
During the Samaskolloquim, I learned a lot. You dream and it will come to reality.

SAMASCOLLOQUIUM
that's why if i want to be succesful in the field that i had choose. i have to think and act practically and i should always put in mind the saying that " if there's no pain, there's no gain" losers are those who give up in life...
Just trust in yourself. believe what you can't do, you can do. your ideas are more accurate than of others and only you can give the best and wisest advice to yourself. no matter what the guests in our colloquium advise, it's up to you to decide for your own future.
Having an activity like 'tis made me more productive than before. So glad we had ate Hazzel as our committee head, and of course, Gaycee as my partner..
I learned how to be cooperative since we were in a team. The major proof for this was my paint on my uniform, ehe. i was so clumsy that i didn't notice i had been stain.
Anyway, i really was satisfied with the outcomes of the event..even if the power's out we were able to make it through. we never thought that it will happen to us..
One thing we were worried about while the event was going on, was the fact that the place was not that conducive.. because the audience kept on panning their selves.
On the other hand, they appreciated it naman, based on their evalutation.
this is the first ever samaskolloquim held at our university. That's why we were glad that we were the first batch who organized it.
It's true when I heard that it's not always Pampanga and it's not always Manila.. We just got to make a difference.. A difference that can lead us at the peek into the future.. Just keep going..
There are many important learning that were expressed in the event. Quoted from the speakers, learning is a continuous process it doesn’t stop, you learn from experiences and as you go on, learning is still in the process. In time, you will encounter a situation that you do not have knowledge about it but as long as you are willing and determined to learn definitely, it can be achieved. We should not be contented to just what we know, we should explore so as to be able to learn, learn and learn. In exposing ourselves to what we do not know help us to learn something new and having a great knowledge help us to become to what we will be in the future.
Congratulations, job well done!
SAMASKOLLOQUIUM 2009 -ABMC3
I am one of the promotions team and I am very proud to say that the poster was made by me and improved by my partner Rj. (Bobs we did it!) Honestly it wasn't that easy because it's not the only thing I'm getting busy with. It took 3 nights of no sleep for us. But after all the approvals and posting we realized that it was kinda fun!
I, myself learned a lot and I discovered things which I am not familiar before like ADOBE.
My classmates all did great and they are all responsible.
I like the colloquium because I know it would be a big help for all Mass Comm and AB Comm students.
The speakers are nice and I am comfortable listening to them except when the BROWNOUT came!! haha.
I also would like to thank Mam Virgie Bautista (our ina ng Maskom) , for giving us the opportunity to make this kind of activity and teaching us the right thing to do in certain situations. Mam we owe you what we are right now and I will never forget you. You made us succeed. You are the person behind this.
Without you I wouldn't become the person who I am now, I love you.
ppP!

I learned a lot from the forum. The speakers were so good that I feel a little excited in working or practicing my field. I was kind of confused on what path to take. Yes. I really do. But hearing directly from them, I am able to balance things in my mind on what to pursue in the near future. I wanted to be a media practitioner but I wanted also to be financially stable. That’s what makes my mind turn. (laughs)
Upon hearing all their speeches, I was enlightened with an attitude. And I think that is patience. Yes, a lot of media practitioners say their work is not financially fulfilling, but because of their three P’s, they don’t mind their salary anymore.
If there will be things that I should capitalize, it would be the three P’s: PATIENCE, PERSEVERANCE, and PASSION. I should invest a lot from them because these virtues would help me set my goals and remind me with my limits.
Above all, I should have faith in the Lord. No one but Him would guide me. I believe with His divine prophecy, His Divine Providence.
The ABMC3 production was good. Although there were no plan B and C, it turned out fine. The major problem is only the power interruption that’s why students were not able to focus well during the forum. Working with my team mates was fun and enjoy, we didn’t feel the pressure. :) congrats to us. :)
Dreams to success
As what Sir RR say maximize your talent and do what is right..as a studentwe sometimes forget what is the best things to do..specially when we are out of limitation,.
If you know you have the passion, go for it, God will make a way..That was the message of Sir Jeffrey..yes,Allof us have the passion..in this i got more confident to do things than before..i know that with the passion that i have i could be on top..
Prioritize your writing. It’s not always Manila, its not always money.Learn to give back.
Sir PETER ALAGOS is right..when you know how to write you will able to see what is your abilities as a person..There are lots of opportunity in writing...It’s not always Manila, its not always money..Manila is not always a place where we could have a better future..sometimes what the the provinces have is much better than it..Money could be yours if you know how to use yuor passion..Learn to give back..when a person achieved the things that they want they tend to forget where they came from..they act as if they already owe everything..
---this messages give me the time to make realization..Time and people could be the hindrances..but i know with God's help i will be able to achieved my dreams..
LIFE in the FUTURE

We are all happy that SAMASKOLLOQUIUM was very successful despite of all the inconveniencies. All Masscom students cooperate with us and also the speakers who delivers their talk properly. We thank them for staying with us until the program was ended. We are happy that our final exam in E-news was over but still we’re sad to end SAMASKOLLOQUIUM because we want to know more about the life of speaker after they graduated.
The speakers’ experiences of their present jobs give us tips on how to deal with our work in the future. It really helps us a lot. It gives us a peek to the future. The speakers make sense because they really speak out the truth and reality on what is really life after graduation. It’s also good to hear that they are now successful in their own way. And what’s really important is they are happy and contented of what they are doing right now. I think that’ the most important thing.
However, we also thank the audience for asking questions to the speakers. It’s good to know that we have same questions on our mind, so it’s also helpful on our part. The questions make sense. It helps us to know more about the speakers.
Put together ABMC3, Masscom Audience and Alumni Masscom Speakers is equals to EXCELLENT. Over all, ABMC3 did a good job. We did our best for our final exam in E-news because that was the last time we’re going to prove ourselves to others. I believe we already proved it after the success of SAMASKOLLOQUIUM. Two thumbs up for ABMC3!
Samaskolloqium 'a peek into the future'
The abmc3 were excellent participants of the event. In my opinion this is probably the most motivated the class has ever been due to an event. I believe we gave it our all.
Most of the speakers for the event did not pursue the field of mass communication. Honestly it wasn't a shock at all. We all know that financially the field practitioners don't get what they deserve. Some even get killed for doing their job. The situation is disappointing but i guess there's nothing we can do about it. The field doesn't have board or licensure exams which in turn enables other fields to enter ours. Everyone needs a job and most speakers had to be practical in choosing a financially rewarding salary over their passion which is understandable. Work is a really different world and through the colloqium i was able to witness that. In the real world you have to be practical in order to survive. Patience and focus are what will drive us in achieving our dream job. Lets work our way to the top!
It's summer once again! Enjoy y'all!

ANOTHER BREAKTHROUGH SUCCESS BY ABMC3: samaskolokiyum '09
the preparations were unimaginable. we had to prepare for the event without having air conditions nor fans. imagine that! but the Power interruption was no reason not to have the show going (or should i say, colloquium.)
if i would have been present during the event, i would definitely learn from all the speakers. i was amazed with the production team for being able to gather all the speakers from different places. and i am proud to say that even if i wasnt around during the event, i am part of the team who made this a success. SAMASKOlloquiuM: A Peek into the Future
Here are some of the significant learning I absorbed from my peek into the future as a Masscomm:
Even if something is not your field, if you are willing to learn it, then you’ll do great in a job! You must grab opportunities that come your way.
- MELFORD CUNANAN
Capitalize and focus on where you’re good at.
- MICHAEL TUITUICHO
Practice speaking English, it is needed in the real world.
- JOOWOON YOON
Be confident. Be your self. Don’t try to project an image just to impress.
Have your mind set on what you really want.
- PONG MANIO
Find a job that will make you feel fulfilled and make you grow.
You can make money if you go for higher education.
You must be able to “sell” yourself – implying that you must be a people person. You know how to convince people to believe in you.
-FRANCES PASCO
You’ll need what you are studying right now.
You really learn from mistakes. And experiences are your edge in looking for a job. Not your resume or the person itself.
-KAREN SORDAN
Re-asses your life – what you want to take…you got to do what you have to do…work it out…maximize your talent…love your work…what you have…
-RR SICOY
If you know you have the passion, go for it, God will make a way.
-JEFFREY GOMEZ
Don’t use any body, use your own abilities, and believe in your self.
Aim, and then work hard for it.
It’s not luck, its hard work.
-MARIFI CABATINGAN
Prioritize your writing.
It’s not always Manila, its not always money.
Learn to give back.
-PETER ALAGOS
Those are just some of the interesting things I’ve learned from the guest speakers. Though the temperature inside the venue is freaking hot (due to blackout), all in all, the SAMASKOlloquiuM is fun and worth it! Good job!

"A Peek Into the Future"
A job well done. Congratulations AB Mass Communication 3! (=
The colloquium was really a fun experience to everyone, not only that we learned a lot from it but also we enjoyed being reunited with our alumni friends. As a member of the Guests Committee, my task is to communicate with the speakers by texting them or by email. They were really kind and accommodating knowing that they are already busy with their work, they still find time to reply to our queries.
Though we haven't expected the power interruption, the event still went well. We haven't heard any negative feedbacks from our guests and I was glad that I gained friends. (Kuya Pong, Ate Frances, Sir Jeffrey and kuya Melford)haha (=
This is it ABMC3... It's our time to shine! We heard it from them, it's up to us how we want to do it our way... Good Luck everyone, enjoy the internship experience.
SAMAS KOLLOQUIUM
A Peak into the Future
A project of the ABMC 3 that allows us to welcome and invite the alumni’s of mass communication to render and share to us their experiences after college.
It was quite amazing how the program ran; students listened attentively and participated in the open forum. We the listeners all learned a lot with their talk. It was definitely inspiring on how they actually live their life with hope and triumph. It gave me the inspiration to work hard and believe in myself that in the future I would succeed and fulfill my dreams if I strive my very best to reach for the stars.
With out the help of each and every one of us (ABMC3), this colloquium will not be possible, and to our dearest teacher Mam Virgie who made a good change in our life by training us to be the best. This is a memory that will last in our hearts.
Mam V. we are all thanking you for all the hardship you have given us. We learned a lot ever since you became our teacher.
And to my dearest classmates, it was a good college experience being with you. We bonded, we have stumbled and fall but in the end we all rise and face for the future.
«§ÃMħKÖllõqüîùM»
Twilight again, no matter how good the day was, it always have to end."
Marj ended this event with a heart-warming quote that made us all fulfilled. =)
SAMASKOlloquium was a blast. We had so much fun preparing for it until the event itself. As one of the head committee of the Audience team, I am required to encourage audience to participate on the forum which I’ve done very well. (Assuming! =)) I just had a bit hard time to make them quiet on set of the forum but as the speakers began their talk, every one of us listened. For the first batch of speakers, I got impressed on how they talked (Well, as always, even when they were still students =)) Melford and Mike were really good speakers, they had share their experiences to us after graduation in a organized manner, I learned that getting a job nowadays is never easy. It’s really tough to face the real world. Joowon also tried her very best to share her experience that caught our attention. For the second batch of speakers, they had tell their stories when they were still students, on how they matured from being bullies way back in college to being the professionals they are right now. Karen has always been my favorite speaker, mentor and trainer, her diction is always great. Her sense of humor made her talk more interesting, and up until now, I can’t recover to what she said when the room is getting hotter (because of the brownout!), “Is it really hot or it’s just me?” (WTF!)
The last batch of speakers inspired me to be more persistent in achieving my goals and finishing my studies. When RR started his talk, I can never imagined how genuine is, what I mean is that, while he is talking, I see myself being like him after graduation. His attitudes back then to now, is similar to what I am doing right now. My mom, who has always been my idol made me cry that day, I did not expect that she would share to us our personal stories in the family, I feel overwhelmed knowing that she never commend me when we are together but that day she made me feel like a star, like I’m on top. I’m very happy to know that my mother is proud to what I have achieved. I never forget what my mom always tells me, “Nak, kung san ka Masaya dun din ako masaya. Tapusin mo ang pagaaral mo kasi yan ang isang bagay na mapagmamalaki mo sa mga magiging anak mo at sa ibang tao. Kapag may pinagaralan ka, hinding hindi ka maaapakan ng ibang tao at pag alam mong tama ka at nasa katwiran ka, wag kang mahihiya. Tandaan mo yan.”
Sir Peter’s talk had motivated me to become a writer someday. He discussed three points that made me more attractive to becoming one; first, Learn to prioritize your writing; second, It’s not always Manila or money; third, Learn to give back. Learn to deal with your job, maximize your talents and skills, be productive and never stop until what you get what you want. You should always look back to where you have started and never fail to thank the people who have helped you out in becoming the best person as you are. He made Mass Comm a new definition for excellence.
Mass comm is not just for broadcasting, journalism, public relations and all that, it’s up to you on how you will pursue it and how you will succeed on your chosen career. Be globally competitive and grab every opportunity that comes. Go for the job that will enhance your comprehensive skills and have a SMART goal.
(S-Specific M-Measurable A-attainable R-Realistic T-Time bound). Be yourself and be confident of what you are. Confidence is one thing that would open you to a lot of things. It’s not what you achieved in college, its how you sell yourself and personality; learn from your mistakes to do better. =)
Much has been said. The semester has ended; I would like to thank everyone whom I shared this sem with. You made this sem one-of-a-kind! To my classmates, who completed my Junior year with a smile. (Goodluck sa kanya kanya nating OJT! Sana maging successful. I’ll miss you all!) To my FAB (Puhr, Bitch, Parps, Fren, Marj, Sah, Athens, Bes, Dady Pat) who never failed to make my day – unending friendship to you all! To Ma’am V, thank you so much for the lessons you have taught me academically and personally. For sharing to us your knowledge and being the best professor that you could be. Looking forward to our senior year being with you=))
KUDOS to everyone =))
Have fun under the sun this summer!
SAMASKOLLOQUIUM ^_^;

---So the first ever SAMASKOLLOQUIUM is a big success!!! not to mention the different problems that we encountered such as the unexpected power interruption, the air-conditioned units did not work but then it turned out more than that we have expected, I'm from the promotions committee and I should say from the editing, printing, approving and the posting is not an easy task not to mention helping Marjorie going in and out of the campus so that our program will be organized.

"A Peek Into The Future"

Being one of the project leaders, it’s not that easy to hold a production like this. Marjorie Cristobal as my partner in this production, she is very initiative to meet all the deadlines that were written on our guidelines. I felt pressure doing this, because this is our final requirement in E-Newsroom course. But with the help of our very kind adviser Ms. Virginia Bautista, this production made possible.
One major problem during the production was the power interruption; it made the venue not comfortable to our audience and especially to our guest. It was really hot then, but we can’t do anything because it was already there. We don’t control the power interruption anyway. I, together with my partner Marj, did our best for the success of the colloquium.
To wrap all the message of our guest speakers, I can say that, we Mass Comm. and Communication students should know the L. E. E. I think your familiar to this advertisement by Nido. L stands for Learn E- Explore and E for Experience. We should learn more by exploring and set the bars of life higher to experience a lot of opportunity in the real world.
I would like to take this opportunity to give thanks with our audience and especially to guest speakers. Thank you all ABMC III for your cooperation in our colloquium. And very very thanks to Ma’am Virgie for trusting us to handle this production. Thanks a lot Ma’am for always supporting and guiding us.
Go!go!go! MC III.
ladies and gentlemen, we are floating in space

SAMASKolloquiuM, a production by the third year AB Mass Communication students for their Electronic Newsroom 2 class, held at room 517, fifth floor of the Angeles University Foundation Professional School building, on the 21st of March 2009, 1–5 PM, lit the entire room with a newfound insight about what to do and what is going to happen after graduation, which immensely helped the enquiring minds of the students about the subject matter.
Ten alumni of different batches stood (or sat on the couch) and shared their experiences and wisdom to all those who attended the forum. Students listened in rapt attention and tossed curious questions with great enthusiasm, to which the alumni answered with the most earnest responses.
The production was headed by Cris M. Balingit and Marjorie Cristobal, and under them were various committees, each with their own functions, acting as extra limbs for the production heads.
Asked a lot of students and they would say that SAMASKolloquiuM was a fun event, to which they had learnt a great deal about what to expect in the future. Even first years, who had enquired about things related to business life even if they were only in their starting year of college life.
Asked some of the students and they would say that Peter Alagos’s words had been engraved into their minds with his three things to remember: prioritise writing; it’s not always
Despite the out-of-anybody’s-hand unfortunate circumstances (electricity blackout and some specific technical difficulties that felt like a Pauli Effect phenomenon), the production was a success.
Kudos to ABMC III.
