From Group 4
From Group 3
The second speaker is a DJ, she works in some radio station, and she really caught our attention. Let us know how to do for making program efficiently, managing time, and even let listeners-- us try to practise in the classroom and gave us great suggestion instantly. It's sure that our classmates really enjoyed her time as we could saw that after class many classmates desired to know her contact number.
second week
whenever people would ask me why masscom, i would always tell them its my gateway to law. yeah baby, me and the law school. oohlala. but in reality, going to law school makes me think twice already,as of this moment. so now i will change that answer, masscom because communication is everywhere. =)
i guess its a great opportunity to work in a field you really studied. i mean if youre taking masscom it is indeed a great privilege to work in broadcast or print or something really related to your course. so there, last tuesday we had the chance to hear somebody from the radio tell the pros and cons of being a media practitioner. she's none other than DJ TYRA. her voice is to love. even her style poise and confidence. she's a real deal. whatever pam. going back, after all the talking she did, one thing really stayed with me, ATTITUDE. then i realized that even if youre this ever so brainy and intelligent person, if you dont have the right attitude, you wont stay long in whatever field you are in or will take. i guess this goes for everything. your attitude will define you. not the things in your head. consider the politicians in the philippines. imagine erap estrada being the president of the Philippines whereinfact he wasnt able to finish his schooling. but because of his attitude, he won. oh comeon. what is this that im saying. forget it. haha
ok. so the next thing i will be blabbing about is nonsense again. so again, spare yourself. haha
i guess if there's one thing common to those not so blessed people < i used this term because im not quite sure if they are those blue-collared people or whatsoever. id rather not call them ordinary too. so just that term>, it is their desire to finish schooling. not all people are given the chance to go to school. and if youre one lucky person here on earth given that chance, i think its best to really really utilize that chance. i mean take schooling seriously. one day when all the riches in the world will disappear, your education will be your gem. your wealth. besides, this is one thing that will make your parents proud of you. at the same time, this is the legacy they could give their child.
im not really sure if i made sense. but since i have to do this, meaning im required, this will do. i swear to do better next time. this is something for lulz, as dame and mick put it. haha.
HAPPY WEEKEND EVERYBODY. =)
the second week

you know this is life. sometimes you have to struggle and work hard .
my God grant me the serenity to accepe the things i can not change ,the courage to change the things i can ,and the wisdom to know the difference .
the frist week
the second speak is a camerist he did not talk to much and show us some picture ,that picture is really incredible ,i know there is full of art in that picture since then .

the next speak is my favourite ,she use fluent english intriduce how important teeth health to us and she deed incredible preparation and give us detail to it ,you know suddenly i am abit of scared, because i am not really care about my teeth health before.but since than i decide i really should go to dentist every month ,big smile with health teeth who does,t want .
PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE *First Look*

Well. I think this is the first time you'll see me blab to whatever in this site. I used to send my blog to Ma’am Virgie's e-mail since she just added me recently. (Bow!)
PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE :D
Patricia Mamangun
Hmm. All I can say is but wow! She did great with the discussion. She’s different from the first Patricia I met during the Infomax days(whew! Feeling close? Well, their station is our featured station during our RTV class with Sir John) as per her, being a media practitioner is never easy; of course it’s a tough job (I know right!) Like theatre, media is very demanding. If is for today, you must do it today. No questions ask, so guys let’s start it right now – effective today! Do your best in every step you take because who knows, you end up getting what you never expected. (expect the unexpected! :P
Borj Meneses -> click this to view his website :)
It's all about the eyes of the photographer
If we limit our vision to the real world, we will forever be fighting on the minus side of things, working only too make our photographs equal to what we see out there, but no better. -Galen Rowell
Getting hook to something may change your life – like for this man who started to like painting end up being a photographer. (Not to mention, not just an ordinary photographer but someone who already made a name.) we are lucky to have him as a guest speaker, noy just because he is famous but he is Borj Meneses, one of the best photographer in the real world most specially to nude photography. Art is a subject, it is not to be learned, and it comes from within. I mean, you will not succeed to this craze if you don’t know how to appreciate the beauty of the extraordinary. (Get what I mean?) I enjoyed this colloquium because if you don’t know I love photography, I am a self-confess cam’whore and pleased about the images beyond the unreal.
So before I end this whatever.. let me leave you this message:
Believing is such a powerful mindset. Even successful people of today didn’t start from scratch – they first believed in themselves. So cheer up, believe in yourself. You never know what will happen if you just believe that you can do it.
:))
SECOND WEEK
The other guests, like Mrs. Remedios Angeles, were also able to share a little of their lives. Things they've been through and things they gave up, and so on.
Survive life, whatever your case is. And make sure you are living the right and fruitful way. Anyway, it is not all about you, it's not all about me, it's about Him, the Creator. My life, and your life, are just like pots, being molded by the Potter. This is my concluding statement for this week.
FIRST WEEK
Ms Patricia Mamangun shared the field of her work, particularly on her experience as a part of the Infomax research department. Obviously, her passion made her qualified to her current job, It showed when she was sharing her key points on what really drives her to do her best on her field of expertise, considering the not so rewarding salary.
Mr. Borj Meneses
Mr. Borj Meneses showed a little view of what it really takes to be a an artist. Aside fron inborn skills and artistic touch, his right choice of career, I think, paved the way to his success. He mentioned his frustration of becoming a rock star, which he eventually learned to leave when he realized that it was music was not for him. On the other side of the "Art" world, he is an exceptional painter and photographer. His subjects and concepts are bold, original, and magnificent! His visit was actually my favorite, so far. :)
Rafael Tuazon
Rafael, a street sweeper, showed the side of the world where most of us are innocent of. He is humble, striving, and just, who he is when you see him around. His words, although vaguely shared, were undoubtedly about how difficult life is for people like them. Things that I realized, I am taking for granted. His life, anyhow, taught me to appreciate my life.
Vianca de Jesus Catangal
Doctor Catangal made us become aware of how important oral health is. Her knowledge of this subject made us all conscious of how are we taking care of our teeth. :D

Skills but also the right attitude...
life in the real world
i could really relate myself in the speech of Ms Patricia..With this i got some ideas of what really the outside world could gove..It is not easy to gather news and info, and it's not easy to be in a two doings at the same time..
i wish i could be just like Mr Brj Menesses coz i really love taking pictures..It's my interest ever..For me picture gives color to a persons life..it can enlighten a person, specially when they are in the saddess moment of their life..and forever, they will going to keep it as a part of their journey.
Group 2 speaker:
Kuya Rafael inspired me..even though he is a street sweeper he still do his best just for his child..though he got separated and didnot finish schools still he want to pursue things from his own.
Mrs Vianca, give us this advice that we have to take care of our teeth..It always reflect to our personality..and she is right.."kahit gaano ka kaganda kung sira ipin mo,pangit parin tignan".
Group 3 speaker:
ate remedios angeles has a beautiful story which could really inspired you..She didnt finish school..Only grade 4..But then she never lose hope .Being in AUF for 20yrs,she already repair their house and give comfort to her family..She's trying to be still in her work for her family..
Dj Tyra..i like her..She is a multitasking person..Hearing her in radio sometimes could tell us that this Dj never had a sad moment in life..she could still manage her time dispite of having lots of doing.
Group4 speaker:
frist speaker of group 4 is working in the hospital of military he giove us some ideas of his work...and what i like most of what he said is ,he likes pilipino for being a hard working people.
kuya arnel is a law student in auf..He came from mindanao then,he went here in pampanga to find his life..he has his junk shop, that could also help him..he really value time cos for every hour he does lot of things.

HiGH FASHiON ツ™

I find photography as a hobby and not as a profession but after listening to Borj Meneses, I was inspired on how he uses his talent in capturing photos and transforming them as a work of art, I love taking photos of myself, with my friends and anything under the sun c: High fashion photography is one of my favorite theme in a photoshoot, to capture an avant garde look that is innovative and experimental, Borj Meneses is a professional photographer for magazines and ads. though at first he wants to be a rock star but then he worked his way up to be what he is now, Tyra Banks is the supermodel I adore, because she can work with different environments, she is smiling with her eyes which is her trademark that is why I love the way she poses in front of the camera lens c:

learning from ordinary and professional people.
i belong to the first group. we chose our speakers because we want the class to learn and relate our course to the possible topic that these people would share. and we were right about it. our first speaker was a graduate of Mass Communication at Holy Angel University. she talked about her profession and i think, the class learned something from her experiences. then our second speaker is a professional photographer, and he spoke about digital effects, enhancing pictures. the class enjoyed the sample pictures that the speaker showed, and got intrested since the class will take photo-journalism next school year.
GROUP 2
the first speaker used tagalog language because he is just a high school graduate. 23, street sweeper, Raphael Tuazon shared his personal experiences to us. he told us how hard life is, out side the class room. he gave us advise not to follow what he did, that is, not finishing school and getting married at an early age of 19. he has a 4-year-old child but his wife and him got separated. that's the story of his life.
i enjoyed the second speaker, Dr. Vianca Catangal, a dentist. she shared us how to take good care of our teeth and she has a very good humor so, we were not bored. she answers questions very well in a way that the class would understand it.

From Arts to Real Life and Smile
Patricia Mamangun was a broadcast journalist. I'm glad to hear her sharings because that is the same field I would like to pursue in the future. Though I was not impress with the way she presented her talk, she has imparted real-life information that aspiring broadcast journalists shall expect when they'll be practicing their jobs.
I always wanted to have my own camera and capture pictures through my own eyes. I still don't know much about photography and I still don't have my own camera but it was nice to have a glimpse of the field goes on.
Borj Meneses, the 2nd speaker invited by the first group brought us to the world of digital and glam photography. Digital photography goes hand in hand with the advent of technology because it uses digital cameras and computer softwares for the editing. There I noticed that digital photography requires more of creativity in technology and colors rather than the eyes for natural creativity as used by conventional photography( I don't know the exact term but it's the use of slr camera). Still he's presentation was fun because of his photos especially when he showed us how he ordinary looks can be a beauty of a model through glam photography.
Group 2
Life really is hard. It can be worse if you don't live carefully. But life can still be beautiful if we will learn how to live it rightfully.
That's, for me, is the gist of Rafael Tuazon's life sharings. Being a street sweeper made him really an ordinary person, ordinary yet respectful. He told us how he had a wife at a very young age and how they separated. Now he's raising his son by weeping the street. He said it is hard for him to find a better job because he failed to finish his studies. There he put an emphasis on how important education is that we must not waste our opportunities by wallowing into vices, barkadas and early marriage.
He may be ordinary but he has taught us that life could be harsh if we will live irresponsibly.
Dr. Vianca Catangal , the 2nd speaker, was a dentist. She was lively and very smart. With her presentation, I understood that oral health is very crucial to everybody that it must be given much attention because if not, it may lead to complications not only to our teeth but even to our lungs and hearts.
She taught us that oral health is important even to the wholistic development of a person because it could bring you to better spot in various careers like the show biz personalities. Finally, good oral health could also help us possess greater self-confidence, which could as well help us attain greater heights.
1st & 2nd Group lecture
I was not able to understand the first speaker, what I understood from her speech was that she is Mass Communication graduate of Holy Angel University.
For the Second speaker, well this time I was able to know what speaker want to tell us. He was showing us his job and works through the Microsoft Power Point presentation and there, his story was able to reach my understanding.
2nd Group
Well, I belong to this group, but did not expect that I will not again, understand what speaker says.
First speaker, I could not even understand what kind of job he is, what kind of life his having.
For second speaker, now I was able to understand what she is talking because the speaker used English mostly and used Microsoft Power Point presentation to explain her topic, and made clear for her idea about her topic; How important to care our oral health.
Let's listen to them...
Indeed, Borge Meneses is such a great photographer and a photo artist.
In particular, the Glam album, collections of edited higly-fashioned pictures that he shown are very interesting. You couldn't imagine that it's possible to transform a person's disinteresting face into a pleasing one. How great is he.
Group 2:
Ms Catangal is such a good speaker. A dentist with a beautiful physical appearance. The moment she entered the room, you could urgently notice what she can impart lots of information to us and expectedly, she did discussed a very interesting topic, the oral hygiene. Of course, me, having my braces will be more attentive as I really wanna know what are the good and bad things of having a braces.

about the second speaker, a big round of applause to her. nothing much to say about her coz she did not say anything about herself though group II mentioned about her educational background.
1st week post
If you have the passion in what you are doing, money is not a problem. The first ever colloquium really opened my eyes about the work I will or may have in the future. Being a media practitioner requires honesty and integrity in your work. You should not expect a high paying salary because, really, the pay is not satisfying. But since you love what you are doing, you will be able to enjoy even if there is no sufficient money involve in your job. This proves that money can’t buy you happiness.
January 22,2009
Education is the greatest legacy a parent could give their children. As a child, it is indeed our obligation to finish our schooling to at least give back to our parents whatever they gave us. Not everybody is given the opportunity to finish college, and we, given that chance, should take our shot seriously. If we did great in school, a better future awaits us. All we have to do is to set our priorities and know what we really want to achieve. We should let go of the things that hinder us from achieving our goals. Dream big. And dreams mean work. Hard hard work.
reporter,photographer,street sweeper,dentist..
first a painter, now a photographer. An artist in his most original masterpiece in painting and photography, borj meneses executes his precious art works in our class. from painting he shifts in photography and made his way in achieving success. with his themes high-fashion and glam, he truly lifts my interest to understand more about his passion.
an inspiring story of a hardworking person,Rafael Tuazon tells his brief story of his life working as a street sweeper in Angeles City. Despite of the hardships he is still determine to continue his work as a street sweeper for his wife and his children. He was not able to finish his education because of certain vices and perhaps led him to have a low profile work. Thus, he adviced us to give importance to what we have as students-- and that is education.
a succesful dentist, Ms. Vianca Catangal gave us relevant informations on how to maintain oral hygiene. In her talk she said that neglecting our oral hygiene can lead not only tooth complications but also can affect the health of our internal organs. Scary..hihi

speakers.
**picture perfect.=)
when I was young, being a supermodel is one of my dreams.
Now that I get to know the world better,
it just made me realize that I was far from such a dream.
But Borj Meneses, our group’s professional speaker, made me believe that even the simplest person which is barely noticed by people can be a big star.
The photographer, make-up artist, hair stylist, clothes and set designer will be working as a group to come up with a good shot.
Great transformations happen to models when the photographer works hard.
I was stunned with his pictures and for that moment,
it made me feel like I want to be a supermodel again.
But after seeing all his work of art, suddenly came back to the real world.
And I still ended up dreaming of becoming a Lawyer.
I realized, I’m still not that supermodel thing he was saying.=)
**Passion – Profession
I strongly agree that great passion will lead you to success.
As our speaker Patricia Mamangun said,
her job is not easy but because she is in love with it,
she gets to have the satisfaction to keep her going.
Being a media practitioner, she needs to work 24 hours a day.
Leaving her no choice when her work forces her to move.
It’s amazing to think that people can do anything when they want it.
And I believe, (or I hope) I have that attitude.
She even stressed out her belief of writing what she proved to be true.
And she always wants the people to have choices,
leaving an issue for them to judge.
And somehow, I guess I will be a good news reporter too.=)
**I Got Zero!
It’s a famous line from the Colgate commercial.
No cavities with a big smile.
The second group’s speaker, Mrs. Vianca Catangal is a dentist.
She told us all those important stuffs we have to remember for our good oral hygiene.
She showed pictures of famous artists and she stressed the fact that these people became famous because of their good hygiene.
It’s a foundation for their character making them strong and appealing and I strongly agree on what she said.
I’m also saving time for myself.
I always wanted to look good and fresh,
and of course I have to go to the dentist to make my hygiene a complete satisfaction for myself and for those people I love.
**I’m Luckier!
We have to admit it, we humans have this crazy little attitude of not being permanently contented with everything.
We wanted something badly and when we have it,
we suddenly wishes for something more.
And we always wish we are better than what we are.
Rafael Tuazon, the next speaker,
who is a street sweeper made me feel really thankful for the kind of life I have.
I honestly complain of almost everything in me
but then I forgot that there are more people who barely have nothing.
The key to real happiness is contentment.
And life will never be perfect if you keep asking for more.=)

Colloquium
Group 1
For the first group, they had invited one of the journalist of infomax 8, Patricia Mamangun, she was able to tell us some of her experiences being part of the media world, she has inspired us with her work and how to be a good journalist in the future, her work was very though, you have to be focused on what you are doing, and dedicate your self with what you are doing, to be able to give a credible news to the people.
Borj Meneses is their second speaker, he is a professional photographer, and he had also shown all his art works and paintings, and his models for the different styles of photography.
Group 2
Our first speaker is just an ordinary person,he's Rafael Tuazon; he works as a street sweeper at Angeles City, he’s didn’t finished his studies because of financial problem, and being involved in a fraternity. He shared some of his experiences, and we are all inspired, because as a student, we are lucky to be sent by our parents at school, and being able to give us what we need. This man is working hard for his family, and didn’t experience a very good life as a student like us. So, we have to study hard, and do what is best for us.
Our second speaker is Dr.Vianca De Jesus Catangal a Dentist; she discussed the ways on how to keep our teeth healthy, and the proper oral hygiene that we have to do. At our young age, we must take good care of our teeth, so that when we get older, we would not have regrets.

Effort+Courage+Patience = SUCCESS
Patricia Mamangun, a journalist of Infomax 8 is doing her job well inspite of the issues concerning journalists like her receiving “under the table” from a particular person to be able to write nice or positive things about them. She believes that if you’re doing the right thing in your job, there is no need for you to ask for something from someone because you’re in the right track; you’re just doing what’s right and proper for your profession. As she said, “just do your work, if there is nothing wrong with what you’re doing, you’re always more than willing to die for your job."
Rafael Tuazon, a streets sweeper, is working very hard to sustain the needs of his family and his child. He is a single parent, and he’s doing his job patiently because he himself knew that he can’t choose a higly-paid job because he didn’t even make it to college. I appreciate his courage to say yes and be one of the speakers. For me, he is successful in a way, because he has a job which is really a great help to his family and he is now learning from his mistakes.
Dr. Vianca De Jesus Catangal, shared with us tips on how to obtain Good Oral Hygiene. She is very successful in her career as a dentist and it’s all because of PATIENCE.

Passion. Captured. Sweeper. Smile.
“When work is a passion, it can never be a sacrifice” – Patricia Mamangun
Loving your work at the same time loving yourself is what we call PASSION. You simply put your heart in what you do. You find joy and self-fulfillment in doing your work. There are lots of sacrifices but since you’re happy, you did not consider it a sacrifice. Imagine how self-fulfilling it was to be inlove with your work?!
Our first speaker, Patricia Mamangun inspires us to love our profession. For her, as a Media Practitioner, doing multi-tasking, really needs determination. Being a field reporter at the same time a journalist, is not an easy job. There are many things to consider in producing a news story in the said date. Rushing for deadlines is the hardest part. Deadline is a deadline! Media Practitioner is a demanding profession. Just keep on believing you can do it and always find joy in what you do.
Captured…
We always captured every moment to gather profound memories. We love taking pictures in whatever angle we want. We love posting and sharing them to others. We love sharing our joys and even pains of that captured moment. Pictures reflect the past we have. Pictures reflect who we are. We love pictures! So, we’re going to love Borj Meneses, the famous photographer of magazines.
Taking picture is a passion for him. He loves what he’s doing. At first, he never dreams to be a photographer. He dreams to be a rock star. But destiny finds his way and he becomes a photographer. It needs an extra effort, time, and patience in this profession. Being a photographer, always remember that everyone has its own beauty. Capturing that beauty is the real challenge.
Sweeper…
I will never forget the moment an ordinary person enters our room. I can’t forget the courage he has in facing masscom students - the courage that has subliminal meaning and the face that has story. He is Rafael Tuazon, a street sweeper who inspires us in the story of his life. He shares all his regrets to tell us not to do those mistakes.
In sharing his down moment in life, I realized that I’m lucky of what kind of life I have. Hearing Rafael’s story tell me to appreciate every little thing I have in life.
Smile...
People love to smile. Would they still love it if they have teeth problem? Mrs. Vianca Catangal, a dentist, taught us on how to take care of our teeth. Personal hygiene is one important thing to avoid teeth disorders. Our teeth make a big appeal to ourselves. If you have good teeth, people would love you. It helps you to build up your self-confidence so that you could always wear a SMILE

This week, I think my class mates will agree that I’m not in the mood for class, it is because for the VJ HUNT. However, I still managed to pay attention to our guest speakers.
The first speaker is the janitress of the 2nd floor of our building which at the same time, it is the location of our classroom. She talked about her life and her struggles. She relayed the story about her son and her difficulty in convincing him to study at AUF, but unfortunately, her son refused to. She also talked about her pass life in the visayan region. There, they experienced poverty until she makes it to Angeles City. And the whole point of the talk? I am not sure if it is persevering for success but what’s clear for me is that the relationship between crew and students of AUF are under good conditions.
DJ Tyra is an energetic speaker, she can hook anyone to listen to her, maybe because she knows how to handle audience like us. She also gave us advices on being a disc jockey on radio.
Group 4
Mr. Fred K. Baldwin works in the navy in Guam. Upon introducing him to us, I got so curious, because I am anxious to know how Filipinos behave in overseas. He didn’t failed me, unquestionably, Filipinos according to him are hard-working, that very moment I want to stand on my seat and say that I am proud to be Filipino.
Law student is the last speaker for this week. In my analogy, the talk is all about pursuing want you want and working hard for it. As my professor told me, life is never democratic, we must work hard to earn more and be successful. Lastly, setting your parameters…agree?
VJ HUNT is over. THANK YOU guys!

Mr.

FEAR OF THE TOOTH FAIRY
I AM WHO I BECOME
My article is all about the first topic of the first speaker of the first colloquium. I’m talking about the mass communication lady who works as a reporter. According to my analogies, the point of her talk is all about loving what you’re doing, and my relation to that matter? Here’s my drama…
Actually I am not supposed to be a mass communication student, I am a pre-destined student of nursing. Because of its demand at the time when I was about to take college, I thought that taking up nursing will guarantee my future. But when I was about to pay for my reservation fee as a nursing student, it seemed that I saw my future coming, me as a nurse forever? Please! First, I am afraid of flesh and blood, 2ndly I hate the smell of hospital and lastly, I don’t want my abilities and creativities to stagnate.
And the rest as they say was history. At that very day, I transferred as a mass communication student. Although my mom didn’t understand me at first, she eventually coped up on what I really like.
As a quotation says, “do what you love and love what you do”: what I want after few years from now is that when I wake up, I am always excited for my work. I want to work for passion and not for compensation, that is why I am who I become by being a Mass Communication student.

Wow, the second speaker used the common language, I really learn a lot from her. However, I never went to dental clinic for my teeth, I will do when I go home, China. She let us know how important the teeth are protected, and how to protect them.
The second group adopted the face-to-face interivew model to catch audiences' attention, and also potentially tell speaker "The speaker invitation doesn't just come and say 'Goodbye' in the classroom. Students want to know about speaker." This is very good and useful.

Based on question that our classmate asked, first speaker didn't let me satisfy about undertable income or gift. Speaker gave us her profile, the reason why she still take master degree of media.
It is incrediable, second speaker was a CBA student, but career is about photography. From his works, there was no doubt that he does really enjoy his current work. When he was showing his works to us, he didn't give us what kind of photo or created photo can catch audiences' attention.
Sometimes the problem is not in speaker side but audience, the room is in chaos, I don't think speaker would tell listeners more about his/her experience.
Don't just enjoy yourself!!!

Group 1 Speakers`
They both speak on how they experience things but I have just one comment about Ms. Mamangun, when somebody ask her about the "money" thing, she can't express herself (as for my observation...I don't know you guys). But let's face it, why are you going to a job that really gives you "happiness" or as what she's saying "your passion" but gives you little compensation? Hiprocrit(did I spell it right?) isn't it?
