ladies and gentlemen, we are floating in space

SAMASKolloquiuM, a production by the third year AB Mass Communication students for their Electronic Newsroom 2 class, held at room 517, fifth floor of the Angeles University Foundation Professional School building, on the 21st of March 2009, 1–5 PM, lit the entire room with a newfound insight about what to do and what is going to happen after graduation, which immensely helped the enquiring minds of the students about the subject matter.

Ten alumni of different batches stood (or sat on the couch) and shared their experiences and wisdom to all those who attended the forum. Students listened in rapt attention and tossed curious questions with great enthusiasm, to which the alumni answered with the most earnest responses.

The production was headed by Cris M. Balingit and Marjorie Cristobal, and under them were various committees, each with their own functions, acting as extra limbs for the production heads.

Asked a lot of students and they would say that SAMASKolloquiuM was a fun event, to which they had learnt a great deal about what to expect in the future. Even first years, who had enquired about things related to business life even if they were only in their starting year of college life.

Asked some of the students and they would say that Peter Alagos’s words had been engraved into their minds with his three things to remember: prioritise writing; it’s not always Manila and money; and learn to give back (not the exact words, but close). Short and simple, but profound.

Despite the out-of-anybody’s-hand unfortunate circumstances (electricity blackout and some specific technical difficulties that felt like a Pauli Effect phenomenon), the production was a success.

Kudos to ABMC III.
