The samaskom held the very first colloqium to benefit all mass communication arts students. The colloqium was organized for students to literally take a peek into the future. Ab Mass communication alumna were invited to share both their job hunting and and work experiences.The abmc3 were excellent participants of the event. In my opinion this is probably the most motivated the class has ever been due to an event. I believe we gave it our all.
Most of the speakers for the event did not pursue the field of mass communication. Honestly it wasn't a shock at all. We all know that financially the field practitioners don't get what they deserve. Some even get killed for doing their job. The situation is disappointing but i guess there's nothing we can do about it. The field doesn't have board or licensure exams which in turn enables other fields to enter ours. Everyone needs a job and most speakers had to be practical in choosing a financially rewarding salary over their passion which is understandable. Work is a really different world and through the colloqium i was able to witness that. In the real world you have to be practical in order to survive. Patience and focus are what will drive us in achieving our dream job. Lets work our way to the top!
