Group 1

Miss Patricia Mamangun

I learned that she is a reporter. She told us that as a media practitioner you should be very eager in everything you do. She also said that people especially politicians will usually treat us, media, good because they are afraid we might make a story against them, that is why for example most of the mayors here in Pampanga befriend her. She is very active the way she talks and very talkative i can say.

Mr. Borj Meneses

He is a professional photographer here in Pampanga. i am really fascinated with his works especially his shots in glamour photos, i remember he told us, when you're into glamour you should be showing more on skin. He narrated the story of his life before he became a photographer. I learned that he was a member of a band but unfortunately it didn't work out so when opportunity came upon him he grabbed it excitedly, he and his group participated in a wall painting in manila and won the 1st place. From there i realized that in life we should not loose hope because in every failure there is always a light leading you to success.

Group 2

Mr. Rafael Tuazon

He is a street sweeper with great dedication on his job. He told us that at a very young age he had a child but because he is just poor the parents of her girl are against him so they took away his girl and baby far from him. He began to live a simple life knowing that sometimes he is bombarded of the fact that his family are away from him. He patiently worked so that someday when the right time comes, his family will come to him and will never leave him again. His faith motivates him that he was never alone, because there is God beside him all the time.

Dra. Vianca Catangal

She is a dentist. I like her because she made me realize one thing, that having a good oral hygiene from the very beginning (since birth) is a must because when we grow old it would be us who will suffer.

Group 3

Manang Remy

Manang is always cleaning the comfort room ever since i entered AUF especifically PS building. She is so industrious that there comes a time she would work for 24 hours cleaning class rooms, as in all of them alone! She is so approachable.

Ms. Taira Mendoza

You familiar with DJ Taira of RW FM? well i bet you are, she is one of my favorite speakers because she is such a good english speaking Kapampangan. She is now working for 10 years with the Laus Group of Companies and ofcours she started in a low position in radio. She is the assistant manager for productions and DJ as well. She inspired me and i really like her that's it.

Group 4

Arnel Berato

A law student. Actually i was not around because we had i think a performance so i can't tell anything about him. Sorry.

Mr. Fred Bauldin

The same thing here because they spoke at the same date.

Group 5

Kuya Bryan

Their father left them since his childhood that is why her mother is the only one who took care of them. When his mother married again with an American guy their financial status bacame stable. He got everything he wanted, thats how his step father treated him well. But in return he did not appreciated everything that is why he got into a group of friends who is only making "Lakwatsa, inom, chiks" in short he just realized it when he had a baby. Now he is working as a janitor at AUF. His life serves as a lesson for us students.

Ms. Charity Monette

A dancer, choreographer and a teacher. She is a mysterious woman i can say. She said that a double-minded person will never succeed in life. She made my classmates disagree because she herself is a double-minded person because of her career but she exclaimed that we should always set our priorities in life. We should always focus on our goals then everything that you wanted to do will just follow after you had succeed. Her faith in God is so deep.

Group 5 speaker were Mr. Brian Osaya (janitor), Mr. Paul Gilgen (entrepreneur) and Ms. Charity Brenda Monette (dancer and teacher)

Mr. Brian Osaya a janitor in AUF talks about all his experience in life. He told us that he was trapped in a wrong path. He takes his study for granted and loses the opportunity to have a better future. This experience makes him grow as a person. Mr. Paul Gilgen is a Canadian Businessman who inspired me in his talk. The unforgettable thing he said that hit me was “enjoy every single day”, be happy to be alive, walk on the grass and enjoy the view. Life is beautiful. We should be thankful each day. While Ms. Charity Brenda Monette talks about her achievements in dancing. And the satisfaction of teaching and touching a child’s life.

Group 4

Group 4 speakers were Mr. Fred Bauldin and Mr. Arnel Berato

Mr. Fred Bauldin, his talk is just all about his work in the hospital of military. His talk didn’t interest me. Maybe because I cant relate at his job. The second speaker was Mr. Arnel Berato who is a law student in AUF. He has this junk shop to have income to support his self. He told us to that we should set parameters to attaining the desirable outcomes.

Group 3

Group 3 speakers were DJ Tyra and Mrs. Remedios Angeles (janitress)

DJ Tyra's talk is very informative to as masscomm student because she is part of the media industry. She told us that we should be able to adapt in a demanding work like hers. She also shares that we should be open to criticisms because it help us improve ourselves. While Mrs. Remedios Angeles a janitress in AUF for 20 years shared all her aspiration, disappointments and dreams in her life.

Group 2

Group 2 speakers are Mr. Rafael Tuazon (street sweeper) and Dr. Vianca Jane De Jesus-Catangal (dentist) Mr Rafael talk was short and simple beause he is such a shy man. but we have learn that he has already experience alot of hardships in life and remain positive and optimistic. He told u to be thankful in what we have. While Dr. Vianca's talk is so informative. She talk all about oral hygiene which is good because we should never take forgranted our oral hygiene

Group 1

Group 1 speakers are Mr. Borg Meneses and Ms. Patricia. Mr. Borg Meneses share the step by step developement of his career. How he entered into photography. While Ms Patricia share the DO's and DONT's in the media industry.

Speakers of Group 1,2 and 4

Patricia Mamangun is the ordinary person/speaker of the first group. She is a reporter and currently employed in one of the regional TV station in central luzon. She discussed to the class her experience of being a reporter.

One thing I learned from her is to enjoy in what you are doing.

The prominent person/speaker of the second group is a dentist. She is Dra. Vianca Catangal. She gave us some lectures on how to prevent poor oral health and what are the consenquences of having poor oral health.

Dra. Catangal is very prepared and knowledgeable in her discussion. She also show some photos of some persons with poor oral health like tha picture of young kid that at the very young age, is already have a denture. She also showed us some statistic reports on how many filipinos in different age brackets suffered from poor oral health.

One thing I learned in the discussion is to take good care in you teeth because having a complete set of good teeth can boost your confidence in everything you do.

Mr. Fred Baldwin is a Credentials Manager of the Naval Hospital in Guam. he is the prominent person/speaker of the fourth group. Most of his discussion is about hospital standards and experiences.

Most of our classmates asked him questions and all the questions were answered. He gave us some advice about good management and good working habits. He also taught us to do the best we can and to be nice with our co-workers.

I've learned to Mr. Baldwin that if the time comes that we are already on top, We must treat out employees equally, because we were at their position before.

Group 5

Mr. Paul

I like the positive attitude he has - the way he viewed life. Live each day of your life with a smile cause you'll never really know when it would be ends.[I hope I would be like him]

Mr. Bryan

I've personally talked to him last year [by the time we did 'The Vigil']- he shared to me what he had experience in life. The hardships he got with his family. The failures he got - and how did he tried to worked out his relationship with his wife. I've seen him like a tough person who surived and still surviving with the every trials in life.

Group 4

Mr. Arnel

I was grateful when I heard he was a law student here, including the fact that he's doing self-supporting. I must admit, I'm really impressed with those who support theirselves when it comes to their studies. It's just that I really admired those person just like him.Well anyways, what I've learned about him was, never stop aiming high but just see to it that you always keep your feet on the ground.

Mr. Fred

I never thought that American like him would going to say that he likes us Filipinos, - despite the bad image we have. At least, there were still those like him who still believe and admire us and who really appreciates us - for being hospitable. Hooray! one thing is for sure, they should stop racism..eheh..

Dr. Bianca Jane Catangal - a dentist. She shared to us the importance of oral hygiene. i enjoyed and learned a lot from her.
Rafael Tuazon - our group's ordinary speaker. Well, I wasn't around when he shared his life and experiences with my classmates. We were outside waiting for Doctor Catangal.
Remedios Angeles - she is a janitress in our school for 20 years. She shared her experiences in life, the trials and hardships. But despite these, she remains strong and continues to fight.
DJ Tyra - a successful DJ at RW FM. She told us that if we really want something we have to work really hard to achieve them and never waste opportunities.
Patricia Mamangon - a media practitioner, she shared her experiences about her profesion and what its like being a part of the media.
Borj Meneses - An artist and a photographer. He showed his works to us and told us who and how he was before he ended in this profession.
Fred Bauldin - he works as a doctor in Guam at a Navy hospital. He told us what it's like to have a profession like his.
Brian Osayan - kuya Brian also works in our school as a housekeeper. He told us his experiences in his early years, the things he have done as a teen.

Group1

Ms Patricia talked about her experiences about the field of MEDIA. What’s interesting about her is that she honestly answered the some issues regarding “envelopmental journalism”. I learned that sometimes, you really have to befriend everybody to get what you really need to get in your news.


Group 2

Dr. Vianca gave us a very informative talk. She taught us what the importance of having a good oral hygiene is and what is its impact to others and to us as well. I think it is important to have a good oral hygiene because it boosts our self-confidence and self-esteem.

Group 3

Dj Tyra was very articulate and particular to her words. That was my observation. But she is really good, and taught us a lot especially in our field. She gave us some tips on what they are doing and told us about their multitasking at work. They have shortage with their employees, but still they survived because of their passion. The line that marked in me was when she told us that a person is nothing if he or she has an inappropriate attitude, especially in he or her workplace.

Group 4

Mr. Arnel, a 3rd year law student at AUF told us about our goals, aspirations, and our limitations in life. We have to set our parameters in order to have a point of reference in evaluating ourselves. We have to check every now and then so that we will know if we are on the right track. If not, then we still have the chance, not to erase, or blame others, but to redirect ourselves in order to finish our goal.

Group 5

Mr. Paul was a regular customer of Mj at her work. He taught us about life in a broad sense. I learned that I should set my bar over myself. Dreaming does not end there. We have to work for it in order to fulfill them. Another thing is we should appreciate the creation of God. Thanking him everyday for giving us a life to love, share, and forgive.

Brian M. Osayan - Kuya Bry is already familiar to us. He works as a janitor at AUF main. Well, my classmates asked him to share a bit of his life in our class. Unfortunately, I was not there because i was suffering from dysmenorrhea. My classmates told me that kuya Bry can speak English well and somehow it amused me. Well, I guess I learned soething from him, that is, a person's occupation is not always a basis of how well he can speak a foreign language.

Paul Gilgen - he is a canadian businessman. Ate mj brought him to class. Well, I can say that he is humble despite of the acheivements he has in life. Actually, he shared 10 principles/quotations to us. I only handpicked this one - let life amaze you everyday. Personally, because I want to experience how life can amaze me in a different way. I am looking forward to every twist of my life. haha

Charity Monette - she is a dancer and a teacher. She does not reallyknow what to say to us. If I were to invite a speaker for our class, that will be her. That is, for her to have a second chance of improving her speech. ( Be careful of your pieces of advice.) peace.

Arnel Berato - he is a law student at AUF and he has already his own family. Actually, I had not seen the guy since I was out in the room that day. I was tasked to post the posters for VJ hunt. So I was not able to listen to his talk. however, according to my classmates, he always say the word "parameter" which became our word for the day. He also stressed that we have to set a bar higher than ourselves for us to continue improving. Well, I hope I was there.

Fred Baldwin - He works as a medical practitioner of an army based in Guam. Well, he talked about the whole experiences in his job including how to cure and treat army personnel. In the middle of his speech, I was already out in the room because I was asked to do my job of posting the posters for VJ hunt.

DJ tyra - basically she is a good speaker because she is a radio personality. I mean she is a dj and a radio announcer. She shared a lot in radio works mostly on technical aspects. She also stressed the points on how to talk well and make spills on the radio. All in all, she's good.
Remedios Angeles - she is a janitress in Auf for 20 years. she shared her experiences about the things she did when she was just starting in the service. She talked about things on how to last and maintain a good impression in the service.

Rafael Tuazon, a street sweeper employed in Angeles City Hall, related his experiences as an undergrad individual who had his wife and child when he was 18 but separated because the parents of his wife forced the wife to work. This action was against Rafael's will. My point of view in his experiences is that he should fix his life now and he should set his goals and achieve them through hard work.
Vianca catangal, a dentist, shared us about good oral hygiene. all in all, her talk was educational and informative to us. Good job.

reaction on Borj meneses and Patricia mamangun

Patricia, the ordinary speaker of the 1st group in the colloquium, told a very informative speech about reporting. she did her talk very well about some tips in broadcasting and field reporting. I learned a lot in her speech.

borj, a professional photographer, showed us some of his works and taught us some techniques in making an artistic photo design. some of his themes were fashion and beauty. he is good but he did not give us samples on how to make/edit a picture. Hope he taught us even just a bit of the process.

THE FIRST GROUP
The first speaker of the first group had invited one of journalist ,because she is not speak English ,so i can not understand what she said ,but from the question of my classmate asked and the English she mixed in her talking ,i guess she is introduce her experience in the media ,and tell us how to work .
The second speak is a cameras he did not talk to much and show us some picture ,that picture is really incredible ,i know there is full of art in that picture since then .

THE SECOND GROUP
The third speaker of the second group had invited a sweeper in the street he look some age of us and he is not speak English at all ,but seemed he has a pretty tough life .the next speak is my favorite ,she use fluent English introduce how important teeth health to us and she deed incredible preparation and give us detail to it ,you know suddenly i am a bit of scared, because i am not really care about my teeth health before. but since than i decide i really should go to dentist every month ,big smile with health teeth who does,t want .

THE THIRD GROUP
the first speaker of group 3 is a sweeper in auf ,i always saw her in the ps building ,she seemed tell her experience as a sweeper and story I am not sure because she is not speak Englishthe next speaker in a dj ,she just share her story and give us some advice ,i really admire her ,because she is so talent she not only teach us how to work but also how to color our life and be succeed.

THE FORTH GROUPthe first speaker of group 4 is working in the hospital of military, he introduce his career and introduce some basic information about career environment in that hospital ,i thought it is kind of dangerous .
The next speaker is a law student of auf and he told us how hard he work is and how early he need to wake up .You know this is life. Sometimes you have to struggle and work hard .my God grant me the serenity to accept the things i can not change ,the courage to change the things i can ,and the wisdom to know the difference
This group is my favorite group and this time i was sitting in the classroom makes my eyes wide and focus what they are talking about that i never did before.

THE FIFTH GROUP first speaker Brian Osayani have to say no English no understand.second speaker Paulwoo he really touch me a lot ,he come from Canada[my favorite country ]and live here almost 3 or 4 years ,i can see he is not kind of talking machine like sir Wallis[no offence ]but from what he said , i learned a lot ,some simple theory can make life colorful ,for example he said we should enjoy every single day, each morning when we wake up we should make our step slow and enjoy the view and air in outside ,thanks god give wonderful day to us ,learn how to satisfaction .you know we all know we should make each day count ,but sometimes we just can not stop wasting our time and do some meaningless stuff. you know i am 21years old already ,in china it is time to grow up and be mature.the third speaker Charity Monetteshe is so attractive and have amazing personality, she is the kind of girl i liked .she is teacher and she seemed really enjoy to be that career,she has half blood of American, of course it is really comfortable to listen the English that she speaker ,she is single ,i can not understand how can she still unmarried, is the man in this country all blind or they do not how to appreciate the woman like her ?anyway she looks so confidence as a queen, she did not talk too much ,most of time she only answer the question we made ,she give me good impresser and i really enjoyed her speech

"Life's An Ending Experience"

Practical application in work setting is different from theoretical Application in school setting, what we think might be easy is difficult when experienced. In the case of Ms Patricia Mamangon, it took time for her to adjust in dealing with actual work experiences. There is more for us to learn in our everyday life experiences.

Mr. Borj Meneses simply describe his life with determinations to succeed in this case Photography became his forte.

Mr. Rafael Tuazon (streetsweeper) clearly describe the difficulties of being poverty his life should be a good example of how we should appreciated for what we have in our life.

Dr. Bianca Jane De Jesus-Catangal information is the key to greater knowledge for self improvement.

In the case of Ms Remedios Angeles It takes great courage for someone to unveil one’s adversities in life.

DJ TYRA if you love what you do and you work hard for it, goals can achieve.

Mr. Arnel Berato story clearly emphasizes that determination to success. ”SET YOUR PARAMITER TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOAL"

Fred Baldwin Filipino’s are well known a hospitable and hard working characteristic that’s why he loves Philippines

Opportunity knocks only once in our life. Mr. Brian Osaya, experiences is a reminder for us to value everything we owe and thank for everybody’s around us.

Mr. Paul Gilgen inspiring words focuses on reaching our goals and aiming for success.

Charity Brenda Monette one step at a time is how we should handle matters concerning our life.

We should thank God for all the blessing we receive and everything happens for a reasons.

Patricia Mamangon
She is a media practition of (if I may not be mistaken) CLTv-36.
She took us to a tour around her life as a practitioner and showed us the thrills and the grissly sights of being in the frontlines. She enthralled us all with her explicit details of experience and with gags that she gets on the field of duty such as having to bring with her a plate while headed to the spot of the story.
She spoke simply yet with so much substance.

Borj Meneses
A photographer and a Digital Artist. He fascinated us with his works in photography and his original pieces of art. He's imparted excerpts of his life and in his advent to this industry. He was very interesting of a speaker and there was really alot to learn from his techniques and his concepts of art. Very much, a prodigy and a natural talent.

Group 2

Rafael Tuazon
A street sweeper and also a single parent. Our age differences wasn't so large so it alarmed me so much of the terrible circumstances that has befalled him which kept me thinking about how if I may have been in his shoes during those times. There was so much to bear in mind based from what he has come through and this small talk with him was not to be ignored.

I wasn't around during the second part of the colloquium because of theater.

Group 3

Remedios Angeles
She is also a part of the housekeeping personnel that we see around the campus. Indeed, a familiar face. She had a really touching story to impart from her childhood until the present and her perseverance with her work around the campus. It was a very cute talk with her. We are so proud to have people around like her. She was worth listening.

Dj Tyra
She gave us a little taste of what it was like to work in RW95 and how it should be for aspiring DJ's in our class. I wasn't around to listen to the rest of her colloquium because of theater.

Group 4

Fred Bauldin
A doctor at the naval hospital at guam. We were so delighted to listen to his talks on how it was like to be in that certain department. It was also a very interesting discussion.

Arnel Berato
A law student at AUF and, at the same time, takes charge of a junk shop around the vicinity of Salapungan (or so, I think). He was a goal oriented individual for what he mostly spoke to us was about the setting of his parameters to attaining the desirable outcomes in his endevours. Quite too optimistic as how it may seem yet it seemed quite true enough as how we saw it all based from his narrations of his life.
This doesn't apply so much to me, sadly, for i don't plan too much ahead.

Group 5

Brian Osayan a.k.a. Kuya Brian
Another of the housekeeping personnel around the campus. I, personnaly, was astounded by his proficiency and his eloquence to speak good Filipino and English at such a decisive manner. He had professed a certain aura of dignity -- more likely and educated stature -- as he spoke in front of the class. It was until we discovered that he had the chance to reach until a collegiate level that it wouldn't surprise us any longer that he spoke so well.
Another one of those compelling stories of mishaps and cruel circumstances. He gave us insights, as well, for us to ponder along our ways.

Paul Gilgan
A canadian business man. He shared some of his adages that he accumulated for himself which he based upon his own experiences and incorporated each according on how he lived his early years through them.
I wasn't around during the rest of the colloquium because of theater(again).

ENEWS BLOG. UPDATED VERSION

I was browsing this blog account and realized that most of my classmates did their blog again. So Im in state of panic right now because Im not quite sure if Maam Virgie was able to understand my blog for this enews2 requirement. so i'll do this again. copy paste my previous blogs, but now i'll make sure that they are in an orderly and more understandable manner. haha


FIRST WEEK OF THE COLLOQUIUM

January 20, 2009 (1st group)

If you have the passion in what you are doing, money is not a problem. The first ever colloquium really opened my eyes about the work I will or may have in the future. Being a media practitioner requires honesty and integrity in your work. You should not expect a high paying salary because, really, the pay is not satisfying. But since you love what you are doing, you will be able to enjoy even if there is no sufficient money involve in your job. This proves that money can’t buy you happiness.


January 22,2009 (2nd group)

Education is the greatest legacy a parent could give their children. As a child, it is indeed our obligation to finish our schooling to at least give back to our parents whatever they gave us. Not everybody is given the opportunity to finish college, and we, given that chance, should take our shot seriously. If we did great in school, a better future awaits us. All we have to do is to set our priorities and know what we really want to achieve. We should let go of the things that hinder us from achieving our goals. Dream big. And dreams mean work. Hard hard work.

SECOND WEEK OF THE COLLOQUIUM

this week was a blur. this is all because of the recent VJ HUNT madness. my mind was floating somewhere when we had those speakers do their task. so forgive me for this post. ok, i warned you already. dont blame me for wasting your time reading. haha

whenever people would ask me why masscom, i would always tell them its my gateway to law. yeah baby, me and the law school. oohlala. but in reality, going to law school makes me think twice already,as of this moment. so now i will change that answer, masscom because communication is everywhere. =)

i guess its a great opportunity to work in a field you really studied. i mean if youre taking masscom it is indeed a great privilege to work in broadcast or print or something really related to your course. so there, last tuesday we had the chance to hear somebody from the radio tell the pros and cons of being a media practitioner. she's none other than DJ TYRA. her voice is to love. even her style poise and confidence. she's a real deal. whatever pam. going back, after all the talking she did, one thing really stayed with me, ATTITUDE. then i realized that even if youre this ever so brainy and intelligent person, if you dont have the right attitude, you wont stay long in whatever field you are in or will take. i guess this goes for everything. your attitude will define you. not the things in your head. consider the politicians in the philippines. imagine erap estrada being the president of the Philippines whereinfact he wasnt able to finish his schooling. but because of his attitude, he won. oh comeon. what is this that im saying. forget it. haha

ok. so the next thing i will be blabbing about is nonsense again. so again, spare yourself. haha

i guess if there's one thing common to those not so blessed people < i used this term because im not quite sure if they are those blue-collared people or whatsoever. id rather not call them ordinary too. so just that term>, it is their desire to finish schooling. not all people are given the chance to go to school. and if youre one lucky person here on earth given that chance, i think its best to really really utilize that chance. i mean take schooling seriously. one day when all the riches in the world will disappear, your education will be your gem. your wealth. besides, this is one thing that will make your parents proud of you. at the same time, this is the legacy they could give their child.

im not really sure if i made sense. but since i have to do this, meaning im required, this will do. i swear to do better next time. this is something for lulz, as dame and mick put it. haha.

-- i wasnt very detailed about the groups since i wasnt able to finish every colloquium. we were quite busy then. so i had to summarize what i heard from them. sorry.

THIRD WEEK

February 3,2009 (5th group)

ok. so this is my group. the last group to have their colloquium. after the recent VJ Hunt madness, im not quite sure if im ready for school. so we let our other groupmates find the speakers. and there was a miscommunication. they invited 3 speakers. so there.

the first speaker was Kuya Bryan. he narrated his life story. his life drama. the usual. wrong sets of friends. leading him to stow away from home. the good thing is, he learned his lesson well and is now living a life that he wants. not only for him, but for his daughters as well.

the second speaker was a Canadian. Paul. He had my ears. he talks very well. he is indeed very insightful. i love his points. it makes life easier and more meaningful. he helped us realize how good goals are. how we should always aim high and be contented yet not contented at the same time. he is great. his experiences taught him a lot about life. and he taught us those lessons he learned.

the third speaker is Ms Charity Monette. she was my PE teacher in St.Scho then. her passion in dancing was very obvious. and indeed, she possess such gift. she is great in that field. with her i was able to see that no matter who you are, what you are or what you have, if you love doing something, do it! dont stop just because other people are criticizing you. it is your life to live and not theirs.
